 turner classic movies
Kind of scary to think that movies from the 80s are showing up on Turner Classic Movies. Makes me feel old when I realize that I actually saw The Karate Kid when it was first released in theaters. Mary http://www.tcm.com/thismonth/article.js ... eId=241551

TCM is showing a bunch of 80s teen movies in June and July. All times are US Eastern. When did 80s movies become old movies?! June 1, 8 p.m.: Hoosiers* June 2, 2:30 a.m.: Caddyshack June 21, 4 a.m.: Stand by Me (with John Cusack) July 15, 8 p.m.: Better Off Dead (with John Cusack) July 15, 10 p.m.: Sixteen Candles (with John Cusack) July 16, 12 a.m.: Ferris Bueller's Day Off* July 16, 2 a.m.: Risky Business July 16, 3:45 a.m.: Fame* July 22, 11:45 p.m.: Gregory's Girl
The starred ones are the ones I (gasp!) saw in the theater when they were first released. TCM is trying to make me feel really, really old! One thing I like about TCM is that even though it is basic cable, it will run post-1970 PG-13 and R-rated movies unedited overnight, so you get to see the whole movie.

Same with Johnny Depp (early) movies, whom I also like.

 Re: turner classic movies
Arrrrggh! What a shame I don't have TCM. That would be another cable plan that would cost me more than I can afford. I myself just went through an 80's time warp. Last weekend, I went to Atlantic City, New Jersey, won a nice amount of money on the slots and throughout the weekend, songs from the 80's playing on the overheads. This was my birthday weekend and I hit somewhat of a milestone age, so I wonder if this was somewhat of an opportunity to take a trip back in time.

 Re: turner classic movies
I watched Better Off Dead and Sixteen Candles as they aired, and taped Ferris Bueller, Risky Business and Fame to watch later. I very much enjoyed my evening of viewing, especially since I had never seen Candles in its entirety. I've written a letter to TCM telling the network that not only did I enjoy the movies, but I know that a lot of other John fans did too because they were all tweeting him about it all night! By John's comments, he seemed both surprised and overwhelmed that so many of us were watching TCM at the same time. I think the night was a bit of an eye-opener for him. If I get a response from TCM, I will tell you what it says. Did the rest of you watch any of the movies that night? What did you think?
